About

Growing up in Washington, D.C. in the early 1980s led to an early love of Redskins football, along with a thorough understanding of the word “disappointment.”  I was also quite a hockey fan in my youth, though I haven’t closely followed the game in some time, except when snowblowers are involved.

Eventually, I relocated out to the West Coast and discovered baseball.  Having no formal team to call my own, I adopted the Dodgers and have come to love the game of baseball almost as much as football.  Thanks to my boyfriend, John, a life-long Dodger fan, my appreciation of the game and its history continues to grow.

When the Expos were thrown out of Canada, I adopted the newly-formed Nationals as my 2nd-favorite team.  Don’t think I don’t regret that decision on a daily basis.  In an attempt to distract myself from the Natties, I became engrossed in the world of minor-league baseball, not really knowing anything about it until my buddy Drew explained the delicate intricacies of it all.  Additionally, I play softball in a rec league on the weekends, which clearly qualifies me to comment on professional sports.  I mean, if Carson Daly can have a talk show, I can have a sports blog.

My personal philosophy is that athletes are paid ridiculous sums of money for what they do, but it comes down to supply and demand, I suppose.  When these highly-paid people act like fools, though, I am all over that like white on rice, especially when they hurt themselves doing something really, really stupid.

Anyway, so that’s me in a nutshell, at least all I feel like writing at midnight when I’m tired.  Redskins fan.  Dodgers fan.  Reluctant Nationals fan.  D.C. United fan.  Part-time hockey fan.

More to come…
